Keep Your Resume Updated

I am a firm believer that you should always keep your resume updated. Many people wait until they are looking for a job or got laid off until they engage with a recruiter.

And unfortunately, rarely do recruiters have an opportunity that’s an exact match for you when that happens.

The best time to build a relationship with a recruiter is while you’re currently employed, you’re happy at what you’re doing, you’re performing and you can share all of that information with the recruiter.

Also, always keep your résumé somewhat updated. It’s so easy to forget what we’ve accomplished over several years.

But if you are continuously looking at your résumé quarterly, you can add special projects, you know any KPIs that you achieved where you went above and beyond.

And you can edit them out later, but at least they’re there and you don’t have to go back in memory.
